While conducting traffic enforcement at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, the License Plate Reader in the department’s vehicle indicated that Mount Vernon resident James McDonald, 38, was driving a vehicle whose license was suspended on Jan. 15 for “violation of toll collection regulations.”
During the subsequent stop, the responding officer determined that McDonald’s driver’s license had been suspended on six different dates, leading to his arrest. McDonald was placed in custody and charged with operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle with more than three suspensions, both misdemeanors. His car - which was registered to his brother-in-law - was also towed to the police impound lot.
Following arraignment, McDonald was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in Scarsdale Village Court on April 11 to answer the charges.
